Student Illness Guidelines:
Please keep the school informed of any illnesses or restrictions that your child may have. Good communication between school and home is essential.
Although good attendance is important, there are times when it is best for a child to stay at home. Please follow these guidelines to determine if you should keep your child home from school:
*If your child has a fever, they CANNOT be in school. Anything 100° & above is considered a fever.
*Students MUST be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school.
*If your child has vomited or had diarrhea in the last 24 hours, please keep them home at least one more day.
*Students must have a doctor’s note for an absence due to illness to be excused.
*If you suspect your child has conjunctivitis (pink eye) or strep throat, they should be seen be a doctor before coming to school. A doctor’s note is required before returning to school. Students needs to be on the prescribed medication for 24 hours before returning to school for either conjunctivitis (pink eye) or strep throat.
If it is necessary for a student to take any form of medication at school, a special form with details required by the nurse must be filled out by a parent/guardian, completed by a physician and sent to school. Medications MUST be in the original labeled container, it MUST be brought to school by the parent/guardian and NOT sent to school with the child. If the proper procedure is not followed, the medication may not be given or taken. At no time will a pupil take any kind of medication on his/her own. All medications will be kept and dispensed only in the nurse's office.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call the school nurse.
